Refund & Cancellation Policy

Plain terms for how trials, billing, cancellation, and refunds work.

1. Free doors and free trial

Your first 2 doors are free and need no credit card; you can stay there as long as you like. Every new account also has all of its doors open for the first 30 days without a credit card. Nothing is charged during that time. If a paid subscription ends, your account goes back to the 2 free doors: your data stays, and the limit only stops you from adding more doors.

2. Subscription billing

If you subscribe, you can pay either monthly or yearly — yearly billing is discounted 20% versus paying monthly for twelve months. Whichever you choose, you’re billed in advance for that period, and your subscription automatically renews at the end of it (every month on a monthly subscription, every year on a yearly one) until you cancel. Your bill is based on the number of doors you have. Current pricing for both options is on our pricing page. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.

3. How to cancel

You can cancel your subscription anytime, self-serve, from Settings — no need to contact us. You can also close your Dr. Landlord account entirely from Settings, which cancels billing and starts the 90-day data retention window described in our Privacy Policy.

4. When cancellation takes effect

Cancelling stops future billing but doesn’t end your current billing period early — you keep full access until the period you’ve already paid for ends. On a monthly subscription that means the rest of the month you’re in. On a yearly subscription, it means the rest of the full year you paid for: cancelling in month 3 of a yearly subscription still keeps your access active through the end of that 12-month period, not just the current month.

5. Refunds

Payments are non-refundable once a billing period has started, including for time you don’t end up using after cancelling partway through. This applies the same way to yearly subscriptions as monthly ones: cancelling partway through a paid year doesn’t entitle you to a refund for the unused months, since you keep access through the end of that year regardless (see Section 4). The exceptions: if we made a billing error, charged you incorrectly, or refer to applicable law requiring a refund, we’ll make it right. If something about a charge looks wrong, contact us and we’ll sort it out.

6. Changing doors and billing

Your bill follows your door count: when you add or archive doors, Stripe automatically charges or credits a prorated amount for the rest of your current billing cycle. You can also switch between monthly and yearly billing at any time from Settings.

7. Failed payments

If a payment on your subscription fails, we’ll flag your account and may restrict adding doors until it’s resolved. Update your payment method in Settings to pick back up where you left off.
