Tenant message templates

Pick a situation, fill in the blanks, and copy a message that is clear and polite. Copy it, then change the wording wherever you like.

Why a written message helps

A short written note leaves no doubt about what was said and when. Keep it friendly, state the facts, and say what happens next. Save a copy with the tenant’s record so you can find it later.

Formal notices are different

These are friendly messages, not legal notices. Notices to enter a unit, to raise rent, to end a tenancy or about unpaid rent often have required wording, timing and delivery methods that depend on your state, your city and your lease. Check those rules before you send anything formal.

Keep the conversation in one place

In Dr. Landlord, tenants report issues through their portal or by email and get updates as a repair moves along, so fewer of these messages need writing by hand. Start free or browse the other free tools.
